‘Proverbs 5:10-11 (NLT)
’’10 Strangers will consume your wealth, and someone else will enjoy the fruit of your labor.
11 In the end you will groan in anguish when disease consumes your body.
I have been studying myself and others for some time and I have realized the things we do that make us poor or not grow in our career, financial life, family life and others are the same things God speaks against.
Before the realization of this truth, most youth including myself would immediately go on impulse buying or spending the moment our paycheck gets in our accounts. These things are the ones that keep our pockets empty even before the month’s end and always crying for money.
THESE ARE THE THINGS WE DO..
Firstly, Excessive drinking of alcohol (my research has shown this is the main activity that drains the pockets of most youth). Immediately we are paid, the next thing that comes into mind is calling friends to have fun; mostly on the purchase of alcoholic drinks which defines happiness due to the ‘highness / fineness’ it makes us.
‘’Highness/ Fineness’’ is when one gets intoxicated and does the things he or she wouldn’t have done if he were sober; dancing in public, talking a lady and so on.
These excessive drinking of alcohol are what the good Bible speaks against –
‘Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
