Vacation –‘That Break From the Classroom’

My favourite period during the year as a government worker in Ghana is when I temporarily close down the school for the vacation or holiday breaks… LOL

As the saying goes ‘all work and no play makes Ekow a dull man’’ and as a worker, these periods; going on vacation, is the best part of the year to make quality time for your family, travel around and spend some time planning for the activities ahead.

Few years ago I used to spend my vacation traveling around the region; usually Greater Accra, Ashanti and Central Region partying with friends.

Vacation –‘That Classroom Break’Recently, my vacations are mostly spent in Cape Coast; moving round the ‘ancient’ city visiting all interesting places and joints; beaches, Castles, clubs (sometimes) and other interesting places. Lest I forget, Cape Coast is the hub of tourism in Ghana, with all the canopy walkways, forts, castles, beaches, crocodile sights and more.

The interesting part of breaking from active when is when you meet other teachers on vacation sharing the funny and sad moments when school or work was in session.

I remember one time, a child reported to school without books and when questioned she said the mother always try to hide every morning when she is about coming to school because the pupil might go ask her for educational items…Sad but a very funny one for a parent to hide from their children.

This is the first vacation I am having in 2017 which will last for 3 weeks and I bet you I’m gonna have the best of it. I’ll be uploading pictures and videos as and when I visit those aforementioned interesting places.

  3. Summer break was definitely my favorite time of year. You get a break from what you’re used to doing everyday and just get to relax. I dont think I appreciated vacations as much growing up as I do now as an adult lol.

  4. A three week vacation would be music to my ears .. Good for you! It reminds me of summer break here in the U.S. where all of the kids are out of school for June, July and some of August. Our teachers work so hard .. it’s nice to let them have the summers off!
